Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a Bollywood romantic film which was released in India and the United Kingdom on October 16, 1998. The tagline of the film is "You know you are in love when...". This film was the debut film of Karan Johar and the cast included the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee and Farida Jalal. The character of Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was played by Rahul. He was lead male character of the movie. Rani Mukherjee was the débutante in this film. The character of Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai made this film very successful in India and abroad.

Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, played by Shahrukh Khan, is a college student and is the best friend of Anjali(Kajol). He was sync with the character and also won the Filmfare award for the best actor that year. The story of the film is also interesting and with King Khan's popularity all over India and abroad, this film was viewed by a large number of people. Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Anjali (Kajol) are students at St. Xavier College. Anjali is a tomboy and is the best friend of Rahul. Tina, (Rani Mukerji), the principal's daughter, enrolls at St. Xavier. She is feminine, beautiful sophisticated and is opposite of Anjali. Rahul falls hard for Tina and wants to marry her. In the meanwhile, Anjali also falls for Rahul. She is shocked and heart broken to hear that Rahul wants to marry Anjali. This creates a romance triangle. Anjali decides to leave the college and forget Rahul.

Tina and Rahul get married and have a child whom they name Anjali. Tina leaves a series of letters for Anjali(daughter) and in the final daughter she tells her about her namesake. She also expresses a wish that she wants Rahul to marry Anjali (Kajol). Little Anjali tries her best to find out Anjali and tries to fulfill her mother's wishes. At first both Rahul and Anjali (Kajol) do are reluctant about the whole issue. But slowly things change and they change for good.

At Anjali's marriage ceremony with Aman (Salman Khan), littele Anjali tells the whole story to Aman who helps both of them to meet and get married. The story ends in a happy note. The confusion and tension, the pain and suffering of Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was depicted by Shahrukh Khan in a great way. This made the character popular among the masses.
