Bollywood film industry, one of the biggest and happening film industries in the world, produces a huge number of films every year. It has a wide base of niche audience who wait for every Friday to get their dose of entertainment. Films made in Bollywood have evolved a great deal from the good old days of black and white cinema. Modern Bollywood cinemas have high budgets and are shot in stunning outdoor locations. Many international film critics and reviewers are taking a serious interest About Bollywood these days. Although mostly romantic operas rule this industry, efforts have been made from time to time to deviate from this sappy trend.

Mr India is a Bollywood Hindi film which was released in 1987. The period of 80s saw a sort of intellectual vacuum in the Hindi film industry. Most of the films released during that period failed to leave much of an impression in the minds of the audience. Making films based on science fiction was a distant dream then. Mr India set a newer trend of innovation in terms of science fiction movies. One of The Unforgettable Characters in Bollywood was born in this film. Fondly called as the indisputable bad man of Hindi films, Amrish Puri portrayed the role of Mogambo in Mr India.

Amrish Puri as Mogambo delivered one of his best performances on the silver screen. Mogambo in Mr India is actually an insane and autocratic General who loves to enjoy complete dominion over his subordinates. This self-proclaimed ruler dreams of conquering the whole of India someday with the help of his accomplices. But all his evil intentions end in horror when Arun Verma (Anil Kapoor) stepped in as Mr India, an acknowledgment bestowed upon an ordinary young man of integrity. Mr India gets a unique formula that can make a person invisible unless seen through red glass or red light. While such a formula can be used both for good and evil purposes, Arun utilizes it intelligently to take on Mogambo and his henchmen.

The character of Mogambo in Mr India has been immortalized through his famous dialog "Mogambo khush hua" (Mogambo is pleased!), when any of his minions carry out his commands in a submissive manner.

Mr India belongs to a rare breed of Hindi film that skillfully takes the banal five-songs-four-dances-three-fights Bollywood formula into an innovative level. It has every dose of entertainment that any Bollywood blockbuster has, but it has something more to it including an off-beat plot, tight script and good music.
