One of the most popular singers in Bollywood, Sonali Rathod has enthralled audiences with her mellifluous music. Both Sonali Rathod and her composer-singer husband Roopkumar Rathod is a great pair to be reckoned in Bollywood. They received training as classical musicians and can sing a variety of songs from tappa, thumri, khayal, ghazal and bhajan.

Sonali Rathod has a number of successful albums to her credit like Ishara, Khusboo, Aaghazs, Dil-kash, Mitwa, Aaghaz, Velvet Voices, Parwaaz where she has sung along with her husband. The famous song "sandese aate hain" (Border) have been sung by Roopkumar Rathod. They have released their latest album called Sunn Zara along with other musical ventures. It is extremely significant as an album for Sonali Rathod since this is the first time that the she has sung for another composer instead of Roopkumar.

As one of the popular Bollywood singers, Sonali Rathod has a high opinion for Sunn Zara. It was a special musical album since the young directors Arun and Ehsaan wanted the couple for recording their new compositions. The couple has also launched a number of private albums though they are essentially classical singers. This is a novel way of reaching out to the masses as their music has a fine blend of classical touch and pop trends. The private albums are great means of reaching the public. For them the pop world is flooded by people who have nominal talent and hence they feel that as singers they should try to improve the situation.

Sonali Rathod feels that as popular musicians, they need not create niche for themselves but appeal to the larger audience with their classical singing like Sajna-bin. This is a thumri like composition. This will lead the common people to actually think more on the aspects on classical music which otherwise has only a very select audience. She has also made her foray into film music singing ghazals which have been composed by Dilip Sen and Roopkumar for the film "Koi Hai".

Along with this, she has also participated in an attempt for fusion with many other singers. Reliving her fascinating experience with the international composer R. Sakamoto she feels that Zero Landmine was one of the most fantastic episodes of her life. Here she sang sanskrit shlokas along with a few alaaps while Ustad Sultan Khan did his magic on the sarangi. The entire selection for performing live under Warner Brothers was considered as a stroke of luck by Sonali Rathod, which she did for the Tokyo Broadcasting Station.
