Sadhna Sargam is a renowned name in Bollywood. Her name is listed among the popular singers in Bollywood. She hails from a Maharashtrian Chitpavan Brahmin family and was trained in Indian classical music from a very early age. According to her she inherited singing talent from her mother Mrs. Neelatai Ghanekar. Her guidance in music was started by her mother and later on she received her training from Pandit Jasraj. Sadhna Sargam is famous for her perfect live concerts.

She was basically known as Sadhana Ghanekar and her upbringing was in an intensely musical environment. She had the opportunity of singing with the late Vasant Desai on stage. Moreover, Sadhna Sargam is famous for her performances with A.R Rahman as well as employing her voice in documentaries and short films. Sadhna Sargam has the experience of singing in many Indian languages. She is a versatile singer and has many notable contributions to the Indian film industry.

Sadhna is mostly gifted for her melodious voice and her perfection of singing rhythmic numbers. She is a talented classical musician as well as light music. She has become the role model of young generation.


The main motivator behind Sadhna Sargam becoming a singer was her mother. Her mother arranged for composer Anil Mohile and then there was no looking back.

Sadhna Sargam worked in association with famous music director Kalyanji Anandji. She recorded her first song for the Gujarati film Kanku Pagli. Her first Hindi song was Door Nahin Rehna in the film Rustom released in 1985. But prior to Rustom, her first release was Vidhaata in 1982. She performed in Saat Saheliyan as a voice for Padmini Kolhapuri. In 1987, Sadhna Sargam could touch success when she started singing for Rajesh Roshan as well as his brother Rakesh Roshan in the film Khudgarz

Her success stories continued with Khoon Bhari Maang, Aasman Se Ooncha, Jurm, Kishan Kanhaiya , Tridev, Vishwatma, Tere Mere Sapne, Aar Ya Paar and Gupt. Among her popular releases there are Aankhen, Saudagar as well as Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar Sadhna Sargam has a long list of association with popular music composers and lyrists such as Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Jatin-Lalit, Anand-Milind, Nadeem-Shravan and Anu Malik.

Sadhna Sargam was conferred many titles and she was among the lucky young recipients of awards She won several awards throughout her career that including the Indian national award as the best female playback singer which was awarded to her in the year 2002. Moreover, Sadhna Sargam is the only singer from outside South India to have won an Indian national award for South Indian songs.
