R.D Burman is one of the pioneers of playback singers in Bollywood who ushered in a new era of electronic rock and a different genre of Hindi film music which is known for its pioneering sounds. His initial break came as an independent music director in Guru Dutt's Raaz in the year 1959.However the film was shelved and in spite of some shooting the film was never released .It was finally comedian Mehmood who was instrumental in giving R.D Burman his first break in the film Chote Nawab.
