Lucky Ali is one of the talented and versatile singers of Bollywood. He is renowned for his mesmerizing voice. His collection of albums and other playback songs have made Lucky Ali popular among the Bollywood singers. He was born on 19th September in 1958. Lucky Ali was originally known as Maqsood Mehmood Ali. He is recognized for being a singer, composer and actor too. Lucky Ali is a versatile personality in Bollywood.

Lucky has enthralled the Indian audience with his soulful and simple ballad-style singing. He has an interesting family background as well. Lucky Ali is the second of the eight children of the popular Bollywood comedian, Mehmood. Lucky happens to be the nephew of popular Indian actress Meena Kumari. His father Mehmood was a celebrity of his time. Lucky had his first break as a singer in a movie written by his father. Lucky Ali attended Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai and the Doon School in Dehra Dun. He also went to Rajkumar College, Raipur and St. Bishop Cottons Boys School, Bangalore. One of his renowned albums is Sunoh, has attracted a great attention and thus made Lucky Ali a famous singer.



Lucky's desire to travel has resulted in many interesting albums. He used to breed race horses and also ran a carpet-cleaning business with his friend Aslam. His friend composed the lyrics for his first album Sunoh as well as his second album Sifar. Lucky's profile is interesting as he used to work in an oil rig in Pondicherry. Being in the family that has a whole life devoted to Indian film Industry, Lucky Ali had the chance of trying out acting as well. His first film was Trikaal with Shyam Benegal. In the film he plays the character of Erasmo, who is a young Portuguese doctor. His next movie with Benegal was Discovery of India, in which he played the character of Tissa, brother of Ashoka who motivated him to embrace non- violence.

The first composition of Lucky Ali was a three-chord lament known as 'Nobody Loves Me'. After the success of the album, Lucky Ali emerged as an actor, director and singer. He made his debut on the Indian pop scene with his superb album Sunoh and that established him as a pop singer. Sunoh was very popular and won a number of accolades. It was awarded one of the best albums in Indian music including the Best Pop Male Vocalist.

Sunoh was voted best at the 1996 Screen Awards and the Channel V Viewers Choice Award in 1997. It held its position on the MTV Asia Charts for 60 weeks. His next album, Sifar was also liked by the audience. The album was recognized for its music, lyrics and vocals. Lucky Ali is known for its distinctive music style.
