Lata Mangheskar well regarded as a living legend still casts a spell on the listeners with her soulful renditions of songs. With her melodious voice and unparalleled singing talent, Lata Mangheskar is undoubtedly the most Popular Singer in Bollywood. Famous music composer Naushad, once remarked that-"The very heart of India throbs in her voice." The early Life of Lata Mangheskar indicates that Lata Mangeshkar was born in a Maharashtrian family at Sikh Mohalla, in Indore. Her father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar was a classical singer and theatre actor.
Her mother Shudhhamati was Deenanath Mangeshkar's was a major source of inspiration for Lata Mangheskar in the later years of Singer Lata Mangheskar career. Lata was originally named "Hema", but was later renamed after Latika, a character in one of her father's plays, Bhaan Bandhan.[1] She was closely guarded by her siblings- Hridayanath, Asha, Usha and Meena.
Lata Mangeshkar's first music teacher was her father, Deenanath Mangeshkar, later she learnt Hindustani classical music under Ustad Amanat Ali Khan Bhendibazaarwale. In 1942, when she was just 13 years old, Lata Mangeshkar's father died. She was taken care of by Vinayak Damodar Karnataki who was in fact a godfather to the five Mangeshkar siblings in their childhood. After Vinayak's death in 1948, the music director Ghulam Haider mentored Lata Mangeshkar as a singer. While we discuss About Bollywood, we can't afford to ignore the unaccountable music contributions made by Lata Mangheskar.
