Wajahat Mirza is popularly known as one of the promising Bollywood screenwriters in India. He was also known among the masses as Vajahat Mirza or Wajahat Mirza Changezi. His original name was Mirza Vajahat Hussain Quizilbash Changezi. Born on April 20, 1908 in Lucknow, Wajahat Mirza was one of the prominent Indian writers for movies. He was an excellent writer who composed some of the best powerful dialogues in the Indian films.

He wrote some of the impressive dialogues for famous Bollywood films like Mother India, Ganga Jamuna, Ek Hi Rasta, Mughale-e-Azam, Leader, Palki and others. Wajahat Mirza won two Filmfare awards in the year 1961 and 1962 respectively. In 1962 he won the Filmfare award for being the best dialogue writer in Mughal-e-Azam which got successfully released in 1960. He was nominated for the category of the best dialogue writer in Gunga Jumna that released in the year 1961. Subsequently he won the award too.



Wajahat Mirza also worked as a lyricist, dialogue writer and a scriptwriter for some of the best Bollywood films. He worked as a lyricist, scriptwriter and dialogue writer in the Hindi movie `Watan` that was released in 1938. He worked as a scriptwriter in three films including Bahen released in 1941, Ek Hi Rasta released in 1939 and Watan released in 1938. Wajahat Mirza, the Bollywood screenwriter also directed few movies and among them Shahenshan Akbar was the best. Wajahat Mirza was highly encouraged and applauded for his notable works in films like Mehboob Khan`s Aurat, Hum Tum Aur Wo, Ek Hi Raasta, Shatranj, Ganga Ki Saugandh, Love and God and others. He was considered as the most efficient scriptwriter by the eminent producer cum director Mehboob Khan.

Wajahat Mirza, the famous Bollywood screenwriter passed away on August 4, 1990 in Karachi in Pakistan. With this the Indian film industry lost one of the most efficient and popular screenwriters.
