Makrand Deshpande is a famous Indian actor and writer. He also directed a number of Hindi and Marathi movies and theatres. He lives in Vile Parle (E), Mumbai and is a well known figure of Bollywood. Makrand Deshpande studied in Shri.MBH School till Standard X. He is presently a well known face in Bollywood.

Besides being one of the prominent Bollywood screenwriters he could be seen in several movies like `Jungle`, `Sarfarosh`, `Swadesh`, `Makdee`, `Darna Zaroori Hai` and others. With his colored hair and luxuriant moustache, Makrand Deshpande is one of the renowned Bollywood screenwriters as well. The bulk of his work, however, is in theatre. He has written 19 full-length plays and about 12 short plays.

About the movie `Danav` he said that it was too intelligent movie for its time. Incidentally, `Hanan` is about the curse of the goddess and it tries to expose the latent hypocrisy of many believers. Makrand feels that the movie is "satire with black humor".

Makrand Deshpande is presently busy with the production of the film Dream Man which is likely to release in the year 2008. It is an adaptation of the play `Ek Kadam Aagey`. With innumerable movies in hand, a number of scripts and several roles, there is no stopping for the energetic Makrand Deshpande.
