Aamir Khan, the true perfectionist of Indian Cinema, needs no special recognition today. He was born on 14th March 1965 in Mumbai as Aamir Hussain Khan. Aamir Khan is not only a highly admired actor of Bollywood, but also a well-known producer, director and writer.

Aamir Khan is the son of Tahir Husain, who has always been a famous producer, actor, director and writer of Hindi Cinema. His uncle Nasir Hussain is a director. His cousin Mansoor Khan is also a director. Aamir`s brother Faisal Khan is also an actor. His cousin Tariq was an actor in the 1970s. Tariq notably performed in Yaadon Ki Baraat and Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin.

Starting off his career as a child actor in Uncle Nasir Hussain`s film "Yaadon Ki Baaraat" in 1973, Aamir Khan`s career was off to great heights. Eleven years after Yaadon ki Baraat, Aamir Khan appeared in `Holi` in the year 1984.

However, this film did not fare well at the box office. Aamir Khan got his first commercial success with the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988. His cousin Mansoor Khan directed this film. Aamir won Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his superb acting in the film. After appearing in various movies and in a number of characters during the 1980s and 1990s, Aamir received his first Filmfare Award as the Best Actor for his performance in the film `Raja Hindustani`, released in the year 1996. This film is considered to be one of the biggest commercial successes in Hindi cinema. "Rang De Basanti", another popular film acted by Aamir Khan, added another feather in his cap.

Aamir Khan got acclaimed for his character in `Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India` in the year 2001. After four years of Lagaan, Aamir Khan made his comeback with Ketan Mehta`s film `Mangal Pandey: The Rising` in 2005.

Aamir Khan is not only a versatile actor of today, but has proved himself as a successful producer too. After the grand success of Lagaan, Aamir Khan produced and directed the film `Taare Zameen Par` in the year 2007 with two co-producers Ajay Bijli and Sanjeev K.Bijli. Taare Zameen Par opened with 425 prints in all over India. The film has earned almost Rs 85 crore in its eighth week after release. The global business of Taare Zameen Par is outstanding. In the United Kingdom the film earned £317,036 after 5 weeks.

Being a part of numerous commercially booming movies, both as an actor and producer, Aamir Khan has proved himself successful as one of the leading actors and producers of Hindi cinema.
