Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam is one of the finest Bollywwod movies of 1960's. It was produced by Guru Dutt and directed by Abrar Alvi. The film is a story of a servant, Bhootnath, family of zamindars and younger zamindar's wife Chhoti Bahu played by Meena Kumari. Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam has won several awards and accolades.
Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam is one of the classic Bollywood tales with some brilliant performances by its lead actors. It is based on a book by Bimal Mitra by the same name. The film has an excellent star cast including names like Guru Dutt, Rehman, Meena Kumari, Waheeda Rehman and Nasir Hussain.

Story of Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam:
The film revolves around the daughter in law of a zamindar's family and a servant who becomes Chhoti Bahu's secret confidante. Bhootnath comes to colonial Calcutta and lives in a magnificent mansion of the Choudhury's, a family of zamindars while working beyond its haveli at the Mohini Sindoor factory.
Bhoothnath becomes enthralled and absorbed with the frivolities and activities that go on in the haveli. He gets the chance to take a close look at the lives of the people who stays there. Every night he observes the decadent lifestyle of the Choudhury zamindars. Soon he meets younger zamindars wife Choti Bahu who pleads him to bring her Mohini Sindoor thinking it will keep her unfaithful husband at home.
Soon he finds out that zamindar's wife is a depressed lonely woman, and they both come close, and soon form a platonic relationship. Bhoothnath is impressed by her beauty and sadness and soon becomes Chhoti Bahu's secret confidante. He begins looking at life from her perspective and understands the way she is destined to live her life. The movie has a tragic ending when Bhoothnath comes back for work in Calcutta only to find a skeleton buried in the ruins of the haveli. From the jewellery on the corpse, he realizes it is the mortal remains of Chhoti Bahu.
Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam is ranked by amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films by Indiatimes Movies.
