Mili is a Bollywood movie of the 1970's which won millions of hearts and is loved by cine-lovers. It is a simple story of a girl who is very positive and cheerful and braves the difficulties of life with an optimistic attitude. The movie was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and released in 1975. When Mili released, it was appreciated and loved by both critics and movie-goers.

Story of Mili:



It is the story of a simple and a vibrant girl called Mili played by Jaya Bhaduri, who is a favorite of the children of her neighborhood. She plays the role of a very cheerful girl with perfection. Her style, personality and her innocent nature is lovable. The story begins when Shekhar Dayal played by Amitabh Bachchan moves into her neighborhood.

As Shekhar Dayal moves into his neighborhood, he does not approve of several things that go on in the neighborhood. Amitabh plays the role of a very quiet natured person who loves solitude and prefers to be alone. He does not seem very pleased with his surroundings and shows his resentment when children makes noise while playing in the neighborhood.

However, things take a turn when Mili enters his life. Initially, he does not like her intrusion in his personal life but as time passes he grows fonder of her. Gradually he falls in love with her and he decides to propose her soon. When the time comes for him to express his love for Mili, he finds out that she has only few months more to live. He realizes how Mili in spite of being diagnosed with a life taking disease has been treating life positively and still manages to remain sunny, cheerful and positive.

The plot of the movie along with some stunning performances leaves you completely moved. Mili is one of the finest Bollywood movies made by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. It was later remade in Telugu as the film Jyothi (1976) starring Jayasudha.
