When it comes to Bollywood Tragic Movies, Fiza is one movie that deserves a mention.
Fiza is a 2000 Bollywood movie. It was directed and written by Khalid Mohammed. The cast of the movie include Jaya Bachchan, Karisma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan. This critically acclaimed movie showcases some strong performances by the veteran actors.
Aman (Hrithik Roshan) disappears during the 1993 Mumbai riots. His sister Fiza (Karisma Kapoor) is in the lookout for him. It was after six years that she found him. To her dismay, she discovered that her brother had joined a terrorist group.
Fiza compels he bother to return to home. He come back to his home meets his mother (played by Jaya Bachchan). However, being loyal to the terrorist network, he wanted to get back to group leader Murad Khan (Manoj Bajpai).
Aman confronted with two men who tried to harass his sister. At this point of time, it was revealed that he was involved with the terrorist network. His sister, mother, not to mention the police came to know about this then and there. His mother's disappointment finally led her to commit suicide.
Fiza looks out for her brother with the aid of Aniruddh (Bikram Saluja). Aman was out on a mission to assassinate two influential politicians. After he assassinated them, the terrorist group tried to slay him. While he is escaping, Fiza follows him. As they come face to face, Aman asks his sister to kill him. Fiza eventually kills her brother. The last words he uttered were 'Laa ila ha illallah, Mohammad dur Rasullullah'.
Although the movie did not do great at the box office, it was appreciated by the majority of film critics. Karisma Kapoor's portrayal of the character Fiza was brilliant and touched the hearts. She not only won the IIFA Best Actress Award but also the Filmfare award for the best actress category.
Jaya Bachchan's performance was also appraised by many film critics. She won both the Filmfare Award and the IIFA Awards for the best supporting actress category.
Fiza was also the major winner at the BFJA Awards. It bagged the Best Actor for Hrithik Roshan, Best Director for Khalid Mohammed, Best Supporting Actress for Jaya Bachchan and the Best Actress for Karisma Kapoor.
The music was composed by Anu Malik although the song Piya Haji Ali was composed by A R Rahman.
Fiza is a must watch Bollywood movie.
