Sanghrash is a famous Bollywood movie that was hugely appreciated by the critics as well as the audience for the spectacular performances given by the star cast of the movie. Sanghrash was closely related to the famous Hollywood movie Silence of the Lambs.
Sanghrash tells the story of a serial killer who has been abducting small children and killing them mercilessly. After unsuccessful attempts by the police to solve the murder cases, the duty to catch the murderer is handed over to the CBI. The CBI hands the case to trainee Reet Oberoi whose character is played by Preity Zinta. After a lot of hard work and investigation, the needle of suspicion points towards a man named Lajja Shankar Pandey whose character is played by Ashutosh Rana. Lajja Shankar Pandey is a half mad religious fanatic who believes that by sacrificing small children, he would be able to gain immortality.
In her quest to catch her killer, Reet is forced to relive her trauma that she witnessed as a child when her brother is gunned down in front of her by the police as he was a terrorist.
Eventually she ends up asking for help from a prisoner who is played by Akshay Kumar. The prisoner is known as Professor Aman Varma who is a genius man but imprisoned unjustly.
Reluctant at first, Professor Aman Varma finally relents to help her solve the case and catch her killer while at the same time help Reet fight her inner demons. As both Aman and Reet find out more about each other, they gradually fall in love. At the same time, Reet also has to face undue pressure and opposition from the police for seeking help from a criminal. The case takes a further traumatic twist when the Home Ministers son is kidnapped by Lajja Shankar Pandey.
Reet and Aman finally manage to track down Lajja Pandey who is about the kill the child and offer hislast sacrifice that he thinks would attain him immortality. In the ensuing battle, Reet and Aman manage to save the child and kill Lajja Pandey. But unfortunately, Aman is also critically wounded and breaths his last breath in Reet's arms. Reet is given a hero's welcome for solving the case and saving the child's life. Even in the moments when she is given her highest honor, Reet experiences Aman's spirit by her side congratulating her on her victory.
Sanghrash was directed by Tanuja Chandra and the music for the movie was given by Jatin Lalit.
