Ek Hasina Thi is a psycho thriller produced in the year 2003. Directed by thriller king Ram Gopa Verma, Ek Hasina Thi stars two biggest names of Bollywood, Urmila Matondkar and Saif Ali Khan. The plot of the movie is full of twists. Audience is spellbound with Urmila's stunning performance.
Ek Hasina Thi is one of the top rated Bollywood thriller movies. The story is all about a travel agent called Sarika. The innocent pretty girl meets a mysterious hunk who claims himself to be a very successful businessman called Karan Rathod. She falls in love with the guy and plans to spend her life with him without knowing his evil designs.
One day, Karan tells Sarika to accommodate one of his friend's luggage at her place for a few hours. The innocent girl without even realizing anything helps the man. The man was actually a smuggler and his bag was full of illegal firearms. Karan was actually a man of the underworld and she used Sarika as a pawn to save his gang member.
Police arrests Sarika who didn't even have a clue of what was happening and how she has been entrapped. Karan sends an attorney for her rescue who ultimately convinces Sarika that if she accepts connection with the accused, then things will be fine like before.
Innocent Sarika is sentenced to 7 years of jail and rigorous punishment. Then she realizes that Karan is actually a villain who had hidden from the police utilizing her. The film revolves round the life of Sarika in jail and her subsequent running away from the jail. The journey of a dainty damsel to a ferocious murderer is what is portrayed in Ek Hasina Thi.
Many people are of the opinion that the movie is inspired from the novel If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon. The portrayal of characters, the way Sarika is convinced to accept her fault, the co prisoner helping her to get out of the jail, and the treatment of the story are commendable.
The ending scene where Saif is left by Urmila and the rats presumably peck him to death is marvelous. The innocent girl ultimately fulfils her revenge by giving back the same pain which she had received.
Ram Gopal Verma had proved his mettle once more in this brilliant thriller. The movie had plenty of big names of the industry. Urmila had given a brilliant performance in the movie. She was nominated in the Best Actress category for different award ceremonies.
