The film begins with an old lady relating a bunch of six scary stories to five little children. The film has been directed by seven different directors namely Ram Gopal Varma,Manish Gupta,Sajid Khan,Jijy Philip,Prawal Raman,J.D Chakravarthy and Vivek Shah. Darna Zaroori Hai has 16 well known actors associated with the film.

The first story is very simple. A movie buff goes to watch a horror movie on a new moon night. His mother warns him not to take the short cut through the graveyard. The man doesn't listen to it and passes through the cemetery. While coming back home late at night, he hears strange noises. On looking back he finds a witch standing behind. The man dies due to heart attack on the spot. Later it was known , that the noises were made from the coins in his pocket and the witch was nothing but the poster of Darna Mana Hai, the movie which he went to see.

The second story has Amitabh Bachchan as its main lead.

He is a professor who stays alone and feels that there is someone other than him in his house. He couldn't convince anyone of the fact. Finally, he was able to show the invisible creature to one of his students.

The third story of Darna Zaroori Hai is very impressive. A stranger comes to a couple's house asking for help. They try their best to scare the man. But the stranger insists that he doesn't believe in spirits and ghosts. The Husband calls spirits in order to scare the stranger. Ultimately it comes out that the stranger himself is a ghost.

The fourth story where Rajpal Yadav acts as an insurance agent and tries to convince a couple to buy an insurance is the most simple story of the film. The fifth story is perhaps the best of the lot. Anil Kapoor plays the role of a famous film maker, who is planning a horror flick in his next venture. His story concept was nerve wracking. The death of the film maker makes the audience aware of some important facts. One should never get scared till he gets to know the reality.

The sixth story is very complex and the viewers needed a lot of time to register the entire story. The ghost had possessed the hero and took her revenge through him. The last or the seventh story is very frightening. The audience is amazed to find that the five little children who were listening to the story is actually dead by then.

Darna Zaroori hai is a wonderful family entertainment and is liked by viewers of all age.
