Daraar, one of the famous Bollywood thriller movies, is a venture by Abbas-Mustan. Released in 1996, the movie is a successful attempt by Abbas-Mustan the director duo.
These two directors are known for making thriller movies. They are expert in the field of crime thriller and action based films. They are immensely successful in dealing with these genres of plots. Daraar, is one of the Popular Bollywood thrillers.
The story of Daraar is inspired by the famous English blockbuster Sleeping with the Enemy. The movie had a casting of Juhi Chawla, Rishi Kapoor and Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salman Khan, the all time craze of Hindi film industry. Daraar is the debut movie of Arbaaz Khan and it was immensely successful. His first movie brought him, the prestigious Filmfare Best Villain Award.
Daraar- the Hindi thriller, is the story of a possessive husband. Vikram, the main character, played by Arbaaz Khan, is a person who gets angry very easily and failed to control his anger. Priya, his wife is the main victim of his wrath.
Beating or physical harassment is a regular incident in her life. One day, she decides to run way to get rid of these regular tortures. She becomes successful in her venture and escaped to Shimla. There she met Raj Malhotra starring Rishi Kapoor. Raj falls in love with her. Priya tells her truth to him and he did not change his mind to marry her.
The story gets a turn again when her former husband presents there to torment her again. He came to know about her from a newspaper clipping. In search of her he reached Shimla and starts following her. He came to know that Priya is getting married to Raj. First he tried to kill Raj, but being failed he plans to send him in Jail. After sending Raj in Jail, he reached Priya's home. There he kills one of her friends and tries to kill her as well. But he will not be successful in his venture. At the end of the film, we see Priya meets her true love. The movie ends with a note of happiness.
Arbaaz Khan is extremely good in playing the character of a domineering husband. He portrays perfectly the wrath, anguish, jealousy and possessiveness that were the traits of this character. Juhi Chawla and Rishi Kapoor are also successful in portraying their characters. Juhi was nominated for national award for her outstanding performance in this movie.
An interesting story, outstanding performances of the actors and good music make Daraar worth watching. It is amongst the well known Bollywood Thriller Movies.
