One of popular blockbusters in Bollywood, Boom conveys all the elements that is characteristic of a suspense thriller with a tinge of action and a dash of good music. The cast of Boom is quite awe inspiring which includes three sensuous beauties, Katrina Kaif, Padma Lakshmi and Madhu Sapre. It also features the evergreen actor Amitabh Bachchan in a prominent role. Even though the high drama and suspense of Boom categorizes it as a highly thrilling movie there are some essential elements which are found missing in Boom. It plays on the often repeated themes of Bollywood like involvement with the underworld, the gloss and glamour inherited from the fashion designers of Bollywood which is seen in the cameo acting by Rohit Bal and Tarun Tahiliani. In all it is a not a happy mix and match but continues to capture the attention of the audience with its panache and style.

The plot of the Bollywood film Boom revolves round the fate of three supermodels, Sheila (Padma Lakshmi), Anu (Madhu Sapre) and Rina (Katrina Kaif) who are close friends. A jewellery heist during a stage show change the course of their normal lives to the unreal and surrealistic world of Boom.

This boom comes in the form of a great crash in their erstwhile serene careers when Anu is purposely tripped by a fellow model contestant and successively there is a great brawl. In the ensuing scuffle in which all the three models defend themselves, priceless diamonds fall out from the model`s hair randomly onto the stage.

This action has far reaching consequences in their lives and results in their getting involved with the underworld. For example, Amitabh Bachchan is made the underworld kingpin of the movie who has certain eccentric traits to his character. Zeenat Aman as his secretary also has a limited role to play. Padma Lakshmi is equally unsuited in her pairing opposite Amitabh because of her extreme consciousness of the same. Jackie Shroff, Javed Jaffrey, Madhu Sapre and Katrina however compensates with their sensible acting. Some beautiful shots, perfect lighting and excellent quality escorts the film safely though the box office.
