Monsoon Wedding is one of the contemporary social movies which depict the lives, traditions and social issues of Indian. This film was directed by the well known director named Mira Nair. Vasundhara Das plays the role of Aditi Verma. The role of Lalit Verma is done by Naseruddin Shah. Pimmi Verma is enacted by Lilette Dubey. Shefali Shah plays the role of Ria. Monsoon Wedding: The Story
Lalit Verma has fixed the wedding of his daughter Aditi in New Delhi. All the relatives staying in different parts of the globe gather to take part in this wedding. Aditi does not know much about the guy she is going to marry in a few days and is a bit scared as she was having an affair with her boss. There are several other plots in this film. Ria was molested by her uncle when she was a kid. She tries to save her small cousin from the clutches of her uncle. PK Dubey is a wedding contractor. He romances the house maid named Alice. Aditi's brother is Varun. He wants to be a chef but his family disapproves of it. Ayesha is a cousin of Aditi who keeps flirting with the Rahul another cousin of the bride. This movie depicts drama, music and a social message. Molestation of several females within the household, a man wishing to become a chef and other such issues are seen quite often in the Indian society. Nair has beautfully depicted in this popular Bollywood social movie.

This film has been awarded several prizes and among them is the Golden Lion. It is the biggest award given at the Venice Film Festival. Mira Nair is the 1st female who won this prize. She is the 2nd Indian national to won this prize. This film was in the nomination for the Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes.
