Story of the movie

The story of the movie Makdee is based in a village in North India. The villagers believe that an abandoned mansion located in the village is haunted by a witch. That was the explanation which the villagers gave for the disappearance of several people who had visited the mansion.

The village twins, Chunni and Munni, played by Shweta Prasad, get involved with the witch (Shabana) living inside the mansion. The story is based on the struggle of Chunni against the evil witch.

The movie was loved by both the critics as well as the average movie watchers. The movie Makdee was very popular with the kids. It is regarded as one of the finest children's movie to have come out of the Bollywood stable. The director, Vishal Bhardwaj, was appreciated for his fine execution of a simple, yet engrossing, story of a village girl child. It is one of the Bollywood movies that you could watch with your entire family.

Makdee, though it is a children's movie, has lots of social messages to pass on to the masses. It talks about the simple superstitions that people believe in, leading to a great deal of discomfort.
