Life in a Metro he been one of the most popular and most discussed Bollywood Hindi movies. Though this film is regarded by many as one of the Bollywood social movies, it is obviously something more than that. It is really about Life as it is in a Metro. Life in a Metro, directed by Anurag Basu, stars performers like Konkona Sen Sharma, Shilpa Shetty, Sharman Joshi, Kay Kay Menon, Kangana Ranaut, Shiney Ahuja and Irfan Khan. Released on 11th May in the year of 2007, Life in a Metro tends to narrate the story about the lives of seven people who lead their lives in Mumbai, a metro city.

It has been said that Life in a Metro has been inspired by a Hollywood film in the name of The Apartment that got released in the year of 1960. The fact remains that it is unique and original by itself, considering the aptness of presentation of the theme that deals with the practical affairs in the real world.

One most interesting thing about Life in a Metro is that it makes an effort to present the lifestyles of people of various status and various fields, and one really gets the taste of such kinds of lives after watching this movie. It deals with the love relationships, breaking up of relationships, reunion of parted pairs, illusion, disillusionment, frustration and reality. Some other human experiences along with all these experiences have been very perfectly projected in the movie.



Life in a Metro also focuses on the corporate life in a metro city. The ones that are privileged and the ones that desire to be privileged but do not find scopes are well represented by the characters of Neha and Rahul. Extramarital relationship and platonic concepts of love have been contrasted with excellent artistic craftsmanship.

The acting of each of the actors and actresses in Life in a Metro are simply excellent. Each and everybody have surpassed the best of their abilities. The acting of Konkona Sen Sharma and Irfan Khan deserves special mention. Direction of Anurag Basu reaches a milestone with this film. The presence of Dharmendra and Nafisa Ali as Amol and Shivani are to be appreciated. They are the representatives for a section that make them adapt with the metro life, though it costs a lot of adjustments. The lyrics by Sayeed Quadri and the music, composed by Pritam Chakraborty fit very well with the metro tempo.
