About the film Hare Ram Hare Krishna:
This film was a milestone in the career of Zeenat Aman where she plays a westernized hippie addicted to drugs and other things. She won many awards for this film such as the Best Supporting Actor (female) Award and the BFJA Award. The song "Dum Maro Dum" was sang by Asha Bhonsle, which is loved by people even today.
The story of this film came to the director's mind after seeing hippies in Katmandu who led a very fallen life.
Story of Hare Ram Hare Krishna:
The story of the film revolves around a brother and a sister played by Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman respectively. The brother and sister had a good happy relationship during childhood. However, due to problems between their parents who decided to divorce, the brother and sister was forced to live separately. Prashant, the brother left with the mother whereas Jasbir, the sister was taken away by the father.
Jasbir was told that her mother and brother had died and she will never again meet them. The growing days of Jasbir were sad and she was badly treated by her stepmother. Eventually, she became a rebel and flew to Kathmandu with a group of hippies.
Prashant, on the other hand, grew up to become a pilot who heard that his sister was living with a bunch of hippies in Kathmandu. He visits her and on the way, meets Shanti (played by Mumtaz) whom he later marries. When Prashant finds Jasbir, she could not recognize him. And slowly, the childhood days are remembered and eventually, brother and sister are together again. However, at the end Jasbir dies.

The songs of Hare Ram Hare Krishna are also huge hits that are sung even today. Some of the famous songs of the film include kaanchi re kaanchi, phoolon ka taaron ka, i love you hare raama, hai re daiyya, ghungroo kya bole, dum maro dum, and dekho o deewaano.
