Accepted as a classic, the film has received good critical appraisal. Released in India and abroad on 16th February 2007, the film was nominated in the Oscar for the category of Best Foreign Film. The music director of Eklavya was Shantanu Maitra who is also the music director of "Parineeta". The location of Eklavya's shooting was in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

Story of Eklavya:
The story of the film is about a royal guard who protects the glorious days of past even though the royal dynasty has ended. Only the royal fort existing with no ruler to rule, Eklavya (the royal guard) tries to protect the fort as a symbol of the rich royal reign.

For last nine generations, Eklavya's family has been serving the Devigarh majestic family.

Eklavya, played by Amitabh Bachchan did a fabulous job in portraying the character of the guard who is getting old and blind but serves the Devigarh with all his sincerity. The emotions and hurdles he faces in keeping the royal secrets closely guarded have been beautifully displayed in the film.
