Aap ki Khaatir is one of the entertaining films that easily whiles away the hour. There are two movies of the same name - one was released in 1977 and the other was released in 2006. Despite the same titles the storyline is very different. The one thing that is common to both the movies is the entertainment factor.
Aap ki Khaatir (1977)
This Vinod Khanna and Rekha movie was a remake of the 1974 Hollywood movie - "For Pete`s Sake". The story begins with a rich man`s son, played by Vinod Khanna. He falls in love with a woman, Sarita. However, Sarita`s father does not approve of the marriage and hence, the two elopes. Sagar, played by Vinod Khanna starts a new life with Sarita, his wife, brilliantly played by Rekha.
To make a living Vinod Khanna starts driving a taxi. They are happy but soon Sarita is guilt stricken for depriving Sagar of his wealth and luxury. In an effort to improve their financial condition, she borrows a large sum of money. Sagar invests this money in the stock market Alas the profit does not come as expected and his investment bums. The money must now be returned to the person from whom the loan has been taken.
The story then follows a series of difficulties and events that the couple encounter.
The film was directed by Sudhendu Roy and is produced by Harsh Kohli. The music is given by veteran singer and music director Bappi Lahiri. The film had a memorable song that is often played decades after its release. "Bombay se Aaya mera Dost" is a chart buster that continues to entertain listeners. The supporting cast Nadira, Om Shivpuri, Helen and Tun Tun are remarkable in their performance.
Aap ki Khaatir (2006)
This Dharmesh Darshan movie explores the story of Anu (Priyanka Chopra). The storyline of Aap ki Khaatir follows the extent to which Anu goes to grab the attention of her dream man - Danny played by Dino Morea. She plans to make Danny jealous while "romancing" with Akshaye Khanna (Aman). All this takes place as Anu goes to attend her sister`s wedding.
Shirani is Anu`s sister who is getting married to Kunal. Amisha Patel plays the role of a docile bride awaiting her new start in life with anticipation, to perfection. Suniel Shetty as the doting and mature husband - to - be portrays his character quite well. The bickering exchanges of Anu and Aman is the highlight of the entertainment of Aap ki Khaatir.
Himesh Reshamiya as the music director croons out some melodious tracks. Director Dharmesh Darshan manages to keep the interest of the audience captured till the end.
