Aadmi aur Insaan is one of the earlier projects of Yash Chopra. This was the first time that Dharmendra and Yash Chopra had worked together. This story is about an honest young man who is entangled in a plot of love and treachery.

Feroz Khan plays a rich and influential industrialist, Jai Kishan (JK). Dharmendra is simple middle class man, who is befriended by J K. Munish Mehra or Dharmendra wants to go abroad and study. Jai Kishan offers to fund his education and soon Munish leaves to study engineering. The story of Aadmi aur Insaan leaps a few years to the time when Munish comes back home.

Jai Kishan offers him a job at one of his construction projects. Meanwhile, love enters the life of both these young men. Both Munish and Jai Kishan fall in love with Meena. Meena Khanna is the daughter of a Government employee. This is when things start getting complicated.

Jai Kishan blinded by rage and jealousy fires Munish and ensures that the latter does not find employment anywhere else. Munish ultimately finds work in a government project. While on his job, he uncovers that the reason behind the collapse of a railway bridge is use of inferior quality material.

Soon it comes into light that Jai Kishan is the person responsible for using such materials. Munish informs his superior but due to past loyalties with J K, he refuses to make a full report. Munish is prosecuted and produced in court. The twist in the storyline of Aadmi aur Insaan comes with the appearance of Jai as a witness against Munish.

The cast and crew of Aadmi aur Insaan consists of several veteran actors. The cast list include Saira Banu as Meena Khanna, Mumtaz as Rita, Man Mohan Krishna as Mr. Khanna, Anwar Hussain as Gupta and Achla Sachdev as Dharmendra's mother. Other supporting cast members include Johnny Walker, Iftekar, Kamimi Kaushal and Anwar. Feroz Khan as Jai Kishan was brilliant and went on to win the Filmfare Award for supporting role (male) in the year 1970. Mumtaz as Rita was nominated for best actor (female) in a supporting role.

The music of Aadmi aur Insaan was scored by Ravi and songs like "Ho Neele Partition ki Dhaara", "Zindagi ke Raang" and "Zindagi Ittefaq Hain" were appreciated tunes from this movie. The movie highlights the social causes that lead to negligence.
