The Bollywood movie Taal will always be remembered not only as a romantic Bollywood movie but also as a movie which focused on the aspect of explicit dance performances by Shyamak Dawar's dance troupe and it's also known for its great song collections. This movie Taal focuses around the prime characters of Akshay Khanna, Aishwarya Rai, Anil Kapoor, Amrish Puri and Alok Nath.
This movie displayed the factor of set designing in an explicit manner to reflect a dream world where everything is perfect and beautified enough to appeal to the viewers. The explicit dance sequences to A.R. Rahman's music is not only a treat to the eyes but also appeals to the music lovers. The instrumental sound tracks of this 1999 Bollywood release have set it aside from the other Bollywood movies. Subhash Ghai being the director of this movie has done a great job with the background and graphical representation of this film.
The movie is initially based on the location of Chamba which is a hill station in India where Aishwarya is known to stay with her family and her father who is a singer in the local radio station. Akshay Khanna being the son of a rich business tycoon Amrish Puri comes to visit Chamba with his family and is attracted to Aishwarya. Amrish Puri befriends Aishwarya's father Tarababu played by Alok Nath to get hold of a land with Alok Nath's reference. Once the purpose is served Tarababu and his daughter, Mansi (Aishwarya) are highly ill treated when they come to Mumbai to meet Manav (Akshay).
Humiliated and dejected Mansi and Tarababu move out of Manav's house empty handed and in the process they come across Vikrant (Anil Kapoor) who is a big name in the music industry. Vikrant takes in Mansi and Tarababu into his music industry. Mansi with her singing and dancing talents strides up the ladder of success pretty fast and reaches the platform of MTV awards where she again comes across Akshay appearing as the chief guest in the program.
Meanwhile Vikrant develops a soft corner for Mansi and asks her to marry him while Manav still hasn't given up hopes of marrying Mansi and finally he is able to convince her on the day of her marriage with Vikrant and even Vikrant lets her go and marry Manav as he realizes her love for Manav.
