In the recent few years, several good romantic films have been made in Bollywood. Not only do these romantic movies have a very sweet love story to tell but are also masterpieces, as far as direction is concerned. Made by some of the most talented film directors of this age, these romantic movies have successfully entertained people and have earned commercial and critical success. Saathiya is one of the best romantic movies made in Bollywood in the recent times. If you are interested in watching modern Hindi romantic movies, Saathiya is a movie that you will surely enjoy watching.
Saathiya-the movie was released all over India in the fag end of 2002 but proved to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Shaad Ali who made his directoral debut in this movie was praised for his good job. The performance of Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee, who played the male and female lead roles were also liked by the viewers. Internationally famous A R Rahman worked as the music director of Saathiya and that's why it has got some wonderful melodious tracks that have made the movie more entertaining.
The movie was a Hindi remake of a Tamil movie, Alaipayuthey, which was directed by Mani Ratnam, one of the most eminent film directors in Bollywood and South India.
The story of Saathiya is quite romantic. The movie is all about the love between a young man and a woman who decides to marry each other. Although, it was a love marriage after a certain period of time both of them started to fight with each other on trivial matters. Incidentally, the girl meets with an accident and the story takes a different turn at this stage. However, at the end of the movie, the man realizes his love for his wife. Both Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee portrayed their characters very well throughout the movie.
In the movie, Suhani (Rani Mukherjee) is a paediatric student in Mumbai Medical College and believes that she can never fall in love. But things suddenly changes when she meets Aditya (Vivek) on a train to marine Lines. 'Love at first sight' happens between Suhani and Aditya and they eventually decide to accompany each other for the rest of their life.
She sacrifices everything and gladly accepts Aditya. They get married and start living together in Vivek's house which is not at all in a good condition. Suhani struggles to adjust herself in the environment but slowly differences arise and the gap between the two widens. After a series of incidents, Suhani leaves Aditya. Suhina meets with an accident in the road. Aditya searches for her and ultimately finds her on the hospital bed where she was in the state of coma. At that moment Aditya realizes how much he loves Suhani.
