Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya features Muskaan played by Bollywood actor Kajol as an attractive young lady. She gets many proposals of marriage from many eligible young men. However, Muskaan plans not to marry and continue with her studies. She coaxes her brother Vishal Thakur played by Arbaaz Khan, to admit her to a reputed college in Mumbai.

In Mumbai, Muskaan comes in contact with Suraj Khanna, played by Salman Khan. After much ragging and playfulness, Suraj and Muskaan become the best of friends and finally fall in love with each other.

However, the brother of Muskaan, Vishaal rejects Suraj as Muskaan's lover and has a terrible fight with him when he comes to take Muskaan back him.

Muskaan becomes upset with the whole situation. Later, Suraj come to the hometown of Muskaan to get the woman of her dreams. Here Vishaal puts him to the test of taming a wild horse and cooking food for the entire family.

Vishaal wants Muskaan to marry the brother of Thakur Vijay Singh. Thakur Vijay Singh tries to win the heart of Vishaal in order to avenge Thakur family for an insult that his family had received in the Thakur's hands. However, Muskaan and Suraj gets united at the end and the greedy Thakur Vijay Singh is taught a good lesson.
