The Bollywood movie Om Shanti Om released in the year 2007 is a Farha Khan directed movie which is also known to be a tribute to the Bollywood old time movie Karz. This Bollywood hit stars Khan and Deepika Padukone in the leading roles while the supporting characters where done by Shreyas Talpade, Arjun Rampal, and Kirron Kher. Shahrukh and Deepika have successfully brought their characters to life as Om and Shanti in the movie which revolves around Om`s love for Shanti and their involvement with movies.

In the first half of the movie we can see Shahrukh playing the role of a struggling actor and Deepika is already a star while Arjun Rampal plays the role of Deepika`s husband and a successful producer of movies who murders Deepika to serve his purpose of drawing a lump sum amount from the insurance company for the movie set which was also burned down with Shanti.

Om who was by then living with a feeling of dejection emerged as the only witness to Shanti`s murder. Unfortunately in his attempts to save her life Om also had to face death only to be reborn as a star sibling and emerge as a star in his next life.

This movie also features one song starring almost 28 great stars of Bollywood starting from Kajol and Rekha to Dharamendra to Salman Khan etc. This song sequence is the platform where Om in his next life comes across Arjun Rampal or Mukesh Mehra who is now a Hollywood based producer and Om remembers his past life and also about Shanti`s death.

In his next life he succeeds in finding Kiron Kher and Shreyas Talpade who were his mother and best friend in his last life. With their support he comes up with the plan to expose Arjun Rampal and plans to complete the movie Om Shanti Om, which was left incomplete with Shanti`s death. In the process of trapping Mukesh or Arjun Rampal, Om comes across Shanti`s look alike Sandhya played by Deepika again. All their efforts are successful when the spirit of real Shanti reveals herself and punishes Mukesh for his sins. In this movie we come across both Shahrukh and Deepika playing the role of actors featuring the Bollywood of 70`s in the first half of the movie and the Bollywood of 2008 as well. The background and set of this movie reflects exclusive ideas to bring the era of 70s back to life.

Kiron Kher as Om`s mother who does overacting in every thing she does played her role perfectly without any bit of overacting in her role while Shreyas Talpade did his share with great ease as the sensible and supportive friend of Om. Arjun Rampal as the antagonist and the villain in the movie did a great job in the movie as he played the shrude film producer who was simply using Shanti to go up the ladder of success.
