Directed by Kunal Kohli and produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra, 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' is one of the renowned big-budget Bollywood romantic movies of the Yash Chopra banner. Released on August 9, 2002, the movie Mujhse Dosti Karoge' is about the love triangle of three friends played by Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor.
Raj Khanna (Hrithik Roshan), Pooja Sahani (Rani Mukerji) and Tina Kapoor (Kareena Kapoor) are childhood friends. While Raj always feels attraction to the vivacious Tina, he is completely unaware of the quiet Pooja's strong feelings for him. Raj's father (Kiran Kumar) decides to move to England with his family to take up a new job and so Raj has to go away from his friends. He makes Tina promise to contact through e-mail. But Tina soon becomes busy with other things and ultimately it's the loyal Pooja who writes to Raj.
But she always makes sign with Tina's name.
She wants to help Tina to keep her promise. Their e-mails bring them close to each other. When Raj returns to India for a short vacation, he is in love with the girl he has been writing to. When the three of them finally meet, Raj, to Pooja's sheer regret and frustration, completely ignores her and is besotted with Tina. However, during his vacation, he cannot help but notice that the real Tina is completely different compared to the Tina he knew from the sent e-mails. At the same time he also starts to like Pooja, without realizing that she is the one he is really in love with.
He returns to London and Pooja coincidentally arrives there for an interview. He discovers that it was Pooja who wrote and sent all the letters. They confess their love for each other and decide to get married, but fate plays an unpredicted trick on them. Back in India, Tina's father (Sachin Khedekar) has died, leaving Tina all alone in the world. By now, she is in love with Raj as well.
Under this circumstance, Pooja refuses to marry Raj as she does not want to break Tina's heart. Raj is the only one Tina has left now. Raj's parents also agree to the marriage, but Raj wants to tell them that he really loves Pooja. Then comes the climax with the entrance of Rohan Verma (Uday Chopra), Raj's friend. Rohan is greatly charmed by the vivacious nature of Pooja and the families are all for the match. Pooja bows to the inevitable and agrees to marry Rohan on the same day as Raj and Tina. That way, she hopes to satisfy Raj's condition as well as ensures Tina's happiness.
But Rohan realizes something is going wrong and that Pooja does not love him, but keeps up the charade nevertheless. On the day of the marriage, Tina realizes that Raj is really in love with Pooja and finally she gives him up and Pooja and Raj get married.
The cinematography and camerawork is really eye-catching. The music by Rahul Sharma is excellent and the best being the theme song, "Jaane Dil Mein Kabse". Hrithik and Rani together share evident chemistry and make 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' a must watch.
