Hum Tum is one of the most popular Bollywood romantic movies. This movie was released in 2004. Hum Tum was produced by Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra and directed by Kunal Kohli. Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji played the central characters in the movie.
Inspired from the movie When Harry Met Sally, Hum Tum revolved around the two characters of Karan and Rhea. Both of them become friends after a series of accidental meetings. They eventually fall in love at the end of the movie. You will find the comic characters of Hum and Tum, which come by way of animated sequences in the movie. They reveal much about the condition of Karan's and Rhea's relationship. The animation was prepared by Kathaa Animations while the special effects by Tata Elxsi.
In fact, Saif Ali Khan received the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2005. In the movie, Karan (Saif Ali Khan) is a cartoonist. His daily comic i.e. "Hum Tum," talks about the battle of the two sexes. During his flight from Delhi to New York he meets Rhea (Rani Mukerji).
He tries to flirt with Rhea but she was not interested in him. At a stopover in Amsterdam, they spend some time together while exploring the city. Karan insisted on flirting with Rhea and eventually ended up with an unwelcome kiss. Rhea was offended and she did not meet him again. A few months later, they meet again accidentally.
After three years, Karan helps his mother while she organizes a wedding. It happens to be Rhea's wedding. Rhea is getting married to Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan). Then, after many years when he pays a visit to his father (Rishi Kapoor) in Paris, he happens to meet Rhea again.
He comes to know that Sameer has died in a car accident. He wanted to help Rhea to get over the trauma and regain happiness in her life. He even tries to fix Rhea's marriage with his best friend Mihir (Jimmy Shergill).
Karan and Rhea however, confronted their feelings for each other. They spent a night together. Karan thought that he might have ruined the relationship, and he leaves Rhea. When he realizes his mistake he looks out for her but Rhea had left.
He comes up with his book, Hum and Tum, which was all about his love story. Rhea having read the book comes over to him as they eventuality get married. The music of the movie is also very melodious, thanks to Jatin Lalit's composition.
