Bobby was directed by the famous and renowned directors, Raj Kapoor.
Raj Kapoor selected two fresh faces to make this movie. Both Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia were debutants in Bobby. Rishi Kapoor was his own son and picked him to give a very fresh and teenage look to the movie. Raj Kapoor targeted the young audience for the very first time with this film. The story of the film fully revolves around two very young people who passionately fall in love with each other.
Rishi Kapoor played the role of an eighteen year old boy who passed his Senior Cambridge examination.
He was a boy from a very respectable and rich family. The boy fell in love with a sixteen year old girl. The girl was the daughter of a simple fisherman. Rishi Kapoor's father's role was played by Pran. He was against the marriage and wanted to bribe the simple fisherman played by Prem Nath. The film is a unique portrayal of generation gaps, class and sections of society and attitude problems. The film reflects how the different problem in a society kills innocence. But yet, both of them, young at heart stands firm against the society and wins the battle.
Both the young hearts faced a lot of struggle in the society. Raj's (Rishi Kapoor) parents even tried to tie his knot with Alka Sharma, a girl from a rich family.
With the film Bobby a new star was born in the name of Dimple Kapadia. This fourteen years old school girl grew up to become one of the versatile actresses of her time. The music of the film was done by legendary Laxmikant Pyarelal. All the songs of Bobby were melodious and still remembered. All the actors played a wonderful role. The role of the parents played by Pran and Prem Nath were remarkable. Both the youngsters did a great job.
Bobby is a beautiful movie and one of the best romantic movies in Bollywood.
