The Bollywood film Anurag being another of Shakti Samanta`s emotional hits was released in 1972 and serves the purpose of being one of the preferred all time romantic hits. This film with Shakti Samanta`s direction has not only offered the audience with a complete package of romance and drama but it`s also known to feature few of the best songs which have attained the position of being favorites with the audiences, especially with the older generation and the song Rail Gari by Ashok Kumar is a popular number with the kids. In the movie Anurag, Rajesh based in Bombay belonging from a rich businessman family is known to stay with his parents and one day at the beach he comes across a girl named Shivani whom he finds beautiful and falls in love with her. She also starts liking him but in being a blind girl she also knows that their relationship won`t be accepted and they possibly can`t get married. Though Rajesh`s mother agrees to their marriage but his father objects as the girl is blind and wants him to marry a girl of his choice.



In the mid of these issues Rajesh`s father Amirchand`s friend Mr Rai offers to get Shivani`s eyes tested at his own expense but unfortunately for them the doctor concludes that Shivani can see again only if some one donates their eyes to her. This leads to a difficult situation as they find it difficult to have a donor who`s already dead. Shivani used to teach in a school where there was a kid who really loved her and that child also had leukemia. Following his death this child donated his eyes to Shivani so that she can get married to the man she loves.

Following a successful eye operation Shivani is able to see and goes in search of this child only to find out that he`s the one who donated his eyes after his death and made her dreams of being able to see the world a reality. The movie Anurag, being one of the popular romantic movies of Bollywood won the best movie award in the Filmfare in the year 1973. Moushumi Chatterjee being the female lead in this movie in this movie earned the nomination for the best actress in Filmfare. Nutan for her supporting role was also nominated as the best supporting actress and Shakti Samanta`s story got nominated for the best story as well in Filmfare.
