'Delightful' should be the word that comes to your mind after you watch Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke. This 1992-film was inspired in a big way by the late fifty's Hollywood romantic comedy 'Houseboat' starring Cary Grant and Sophia Loren. And, some of the sequences might make you think that it is our own 'desi' version 'Houseboat', if not a scene-to-scene copy. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, produced by Tahir Hussain and with a musical score by Nadeem-Shravan, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke (We Are Travelers on the Path of Love) stars Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla. Juhi Chawla won the Filmfare Best Actress award for her role and Mahesh Bhatt bagged the 1994 National Film Award - Special Jury Award for it.

Aamir Khan plays the role of Rahul Malhotra, the suave manager trying to save a nearly-sinking family business. He is also the guardian of his dead sister's kids, three little trouble-makers. Enters Vaijayanti Iyer, the governess. Juhi Chawla plays one of the most endearing characters on screen as a runaway from home. And, as happens in every other Bollywood flicks, Rahul and Vaijayanti fall in love.

But, the usual boy-meets-girl-falls-in-love formula demands some intervention to sustain the plot and for that, there is Maya, played by Navneet Nishan. She is a rich girl in love with Rahul and tries to ruin his family and his business.

But in Bollywood, the good must overcome all odds to make it a 'living happily ever after' ending. Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke is a fine example of this. At the end, everything falls into places, the business is saved, Rahul and Vaijayanti find the perfect soul mate in each other and the kids get their dream family of doting guardians. Remember 'Sunny', one of the kids, with a big grin on his face and twinkle in eyes? That kid has really come a long way and has proved his mettle by emerging as one of the most promising newcomers of Bollywood of our times. Yes, you guessed it right, we are talking about Kunal Kemmu, the latest heartthrob of teenage girls, of 'Kaliyug' and 'Superstar' fame.

Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke has some melodious numbers by Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu. Be it the feel-good bonhomie of "Yunhi Kat Jayega" or the coyly courtship of "Ghoonghat Ki Aad", Nadeem-Shravan did a great job. The film remains a must-watch if you are into Bollywood comedy movies and also for the Aamir-Juhi chemistry.
