Murli Prasad Sharma or Munna Bhai is an underworld don of Mumbai. His father always wanted him to be a doctor. One day when his parents came to Mumbai he created a fake hospital to appease them and make his parents believe that he has really become a doctor. However, Dr. Asthana tells the parent's of Munna Bhai that he is not a doctor when Munna bhai's parents decide to marry him Munna to Dr Suman. Dr. Asthana insults his parents in fronts of Munna Bhai and asks them to go away from his home.

Munna Bhai then decides to take revenge on Dr. Ashtana by becoming a real doctor. He then decides to go to the Medical College. Circuit, his assistant helps him to get admission.

Dr. Asthana was the dean of the medical college. In his college, Munna Bhai with his friendly behavior becomes close to every level of persons including the sweepers. Soon he becomes a very popular figure in the medical college.

Dr. Asthana's character played by Boman Irani has been really portrayed well. Dr. Suman is also a doctor in this medical college and becomes a good friend of Munna. Dr. Asthana's tries to expel Munna.

Munna Bhai MBBS has a happy ending. At the end of the movie, Munna marries Dr. Suman. Munna Bhai and Dr. Suman later open a medical college of their own and lives happily ever after.

Munna Bhai MBBS has won several awards in the Bollywood film industry. In the year 2004, Munna Bhai MBBS won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie at the Filmfare awards.

The other Filmfare awards won by Munna Bhai MBBS are the Filmfare Best Dialogue Award, the Filmfare Best Screenplay Award and Filmfare Best Comedian Award.

The movie has also won the Zee Cine Awards in 2004 for Best Debuting Director section, Best Actor in a Comic Role, Best Dialogue and Best Cinematography.
