Jodi No. 1 was released on April 13, 2001. The director of Jodi No 1 was David Dhawan. The film starred Govinda and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles. The female leads were played by Twinkle Khanna and Monica Bedi. Anupam Kher also played a significant role. Pravin Shah was the producer of Jodi No. 1.

Plot summary of Jodi No. 1:
Jodi No. 1 begins with Jai and Veeru played by Sanjay Dutt and Govinda. They are childhood friends and are basically small time thieves. The conmen picked up a fight with a criminal Sir John. They, by chance, have killed the mafia's brother at a casino. Soon a chase begins for the two. They flee from the situation and meet a rich businessman named Rai Bahadur, played by Anupam Kher. Here also they tried to fool him and made him believe that Jai is actually his NRI nephew. However, things do not move smoothly for them. Rai Bahadur is in immense financial trouble and suffers a heart attack.

He then appoints Jai and asks him to take the charge of his business and property. They were in a fix but ultimately Jai decides to help Rai Bahadur.

They applied their cheating experiences and skills to tackle the business and corporate world. They became successful in uniting the family and saved the business as well. But one day the pictures of Jay and Veeru appeared in the India's most Wanted List and the cops are after them. Sir John also became aware of their whereabouts and wants to take revenge. The rest of the story reveals how they managed to get out of the trouble. Twinkle Khanna and Monica Bedi played the love interest of Govinda and Sanjay Dutt respectively.

Govinda and Sanjay Dutt's chemistry was one of the major points of attraction of the movie. The comic timing of both the actors is superb. Govinda is slick prankster and tickle your bones with his humor and comic timing. Sanjay Dutt on the other hand, impresses you with subdued comic performance. The hilarious moments and comic dialogues will entertain you. Corny pranks and humorous jokes form the backbone of the film. Monica Bedi and twinkle Khanna look prêt but do not have much role to play. The music of the Jodi No.1 is given by Himesh Reshammyia and Anand Raj Anand. The songs are catchy and are suitable for a comedy film.
