Chup Chup Ke got huge response as soon as it was released. The chemistry between Shahid and Kareena also worked and pulled crowds well. Chup Chup Ke delivers pure fun and is a worth-watching movie. With Chup Chup Ke, Priyadarshan has once again proved himself to be a master of comedies. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film, Punjabi House. Originally Chup Chup Ke was entitled Khatta Meetha.
This film was released on 9th June 2006. Its music composer is Himesh Reshmiya. The film has an impressive casting crew including Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Sunil Shetty, Neha Dhupia, Rajpal Yadav, Shakti Kapoor and Sushma Reddy.
Shahid Kapoor or Jeetu misuses money and gets his father into heavy debt. Ashamed of this he breaks off his engagement with Pooja (Sushma Reddy) and decides to drown himself so that his father can use the money from his life insurance and pay off the debts. But his plan does not work and he gets trapped in the nets of fishermen, Gundya (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav).
We come to know that Gundya also owes money to Prabhat Singh Chauhan played by Om Puri. He is a Gujrati businessman. Both the fishermen find something in Jeetu's pocket which makes them believe that he is a millionaire. Jeetu does not want to reveal much and thus pretends to be a deaf cum mute.
Gundya hatches a scheme and offers Jeetu to Prabhat in exchange for the money that he owes to him. Jeetu here comes across the beautiful mute Kareena aka Shruti and her cousin Meenakshi, Neha Dhupia. She is the niece of Prabhat and sister of Mangal played by Sunil Shetty. In a drunken state Jeetu tells his secret to both Shruti and Meenakshi.
They promise to keep his secret but in return Jeetu needs to pretend to be Shruti's lover. Meenakshi also finds out that Jeetu is in debt and she thinks that he will do anything for money. Unfortunately Jeetu gets involved in a car crash with Prabhat who at that time was carrying a lot of money.
Meenakshi tells the police about her suspicions and they end up beating Jeetu. Her views about him change when Prabhat announces that Jeetu was the one who saved him and took him to the hospital. Shruti confesses her love for Jeetu. Mangal finds out about the romance and practically forces Jeetu to marry Shruti.
In the meantime, Bandya returns from Jeetu's village with a suitcase full of money. He tells Jeetu that Pooja is married. Free of debt he agrees to marry Shruti. However, Jeetu's family soon learns of his being alive and wants him to come home and marry Pooja. Watch the movie to catch the comedy and to know what is in store for Jeetu.
