Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi was released in 1958 and is still considered one of the pioneers in bollywood comedy films. The movie was a huge hit and all the three brothers were appreciated for their commendable job. This movie could be called a successful comedy that has even a large audience till now. The music of the movie was given by S.D. Burman which was a great factor in the promotion of the movie. The movie was supposed to be directed by Kamal Mazumdar who directed one of Kishore Kumar's bengali movies. He was not confident enough to direct the three brothers and so after he backed out, Satyen Bose was assigned with the task.

Three brothers namely - Ashok, Kishore and Anoop Kumar were seen together in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. Madhubala was paired opposite Kishore Kumar who later on got involved with her outside reel life. K.N. Singh, Veena, Sajjan, Sahira played other supporting roles. In this movie, the three brothers are shown owning a garage. Madhubala seeks help when her car breaks down and forgets to pay Kishore who characterized Manmohan Sharma.

His elder brother was named Brijmohan Sharma, Anoop Kumar was named as Jagmohan Sharma and Madhubala was called Renu.

When Renu forgets to pay Manmohan, he follows her to a function. There he creeps in to her car and is taken home with her. He is being noticed by her servant but somehow manages to flee the situation. While going he notices a crime but ignores it. As the story moves through different twists and turns, it is revealed that Kamini, played by Veena, was his previous love interest. The movie was laced with great humorous affairs perfectly suitable to call it a first class comedy movie . Especially when there is Kishore Kumar one can only expect out and out comedy.

The movie was basically made in order to do away with the tax. Kishore Kumar thought that this will be a great flop but then it turned out to be just the opposite. On screen chemistry of Kishore and Madhubala made the film a huge success. Even the brothers together made it a roller coaster ride into hilarity. It is truly a comedy venture which also had some Hollywood undertones. This movie had some great music and songs to complement excellent acting and directing skills.
