In another UP town lives the starry-eyed Babli or Vimmi, played by Rani Mukherjee. Much like Rakesh she spends her time gazing at her reflection in the mirror and dreaming of becoming Miss India someday. But her parents who were not as ambitious as she was want her to lead a normal life of a house wife. When the clash of views escalates she runs off to realize her dreams.



The 2 day-dreaming characters Bunty and Babli are thrown together under some extra ordinary circumstances. With no money in their pockets but high on dreams the 2 chum up like a square plug in a square hole. The two come together to trick people, strike un-imaginary hoax deals like leasing out Taj Mahal and ransack banks. Those who walked into their trap, which included businessmen, investors, politicians, and hoteliers, were robbed of their valuables.

Bunty and Babli became legends. The two self effacing swindlers hit headlines across the country for their daring and imaginative cons and robberies. But ACP Dashrath Singh played by Amitabh Bachchan vowed to bring the two crooks to the book of law. He leaves no stone unturned to trap them.

Meanwhile, Rakesh and Vimmi have a child and decide to quit conning for the sake of their child. No sooner they decide to mend their ways than Dashrath Singh manages to nab them. He refuses to believe that their intentions stand changed. He releases them. Years later, Dashrath brings them out of their commonplace to employ their conning abilities, for the aid of the nation.
