Buddha Mar Gaya

Buddha Mar Gaya is a comedy movie. The film was released on 17 August 2007. The film resembles somewhat Kundan Shah's "Jane Bhi Do Yaaron". Buddha Mar Gaya is fun-watching and you will laugh all throughout.

This particular movie is directed by Rahul Rawail. The direction is not that impressive and the cinematography satisfactory. The cast includes Rakhi Sawant, Om Puri and Paresh Rawal. The film does little justice to its tag line "You'll die laughing".

Cunning, wicked, evil and vulgar, the family in Rahul Rawail's film spoofs the aesthetics of the archetypal Family Drama with a lingering appetite for crudity. Buddha Mar Gaya is a black comedy and is all about dead bodies, mucho moolah and funerals.

The film begins with Laxmikant Kabadiya aka LK, a business tycoon, who dies while making love to the sexy Rakhi Sawant. She also seduces and kills several other men from Vinay to Prem Chopra. Rakhi Sawant is a starlet who aspires to become the heroine of a film that LK plans to produce.

The film then shows how LK has risen from selling scrap to become a construction magnate. He dies when his corporation is on the verge of a 5000 crore IPO. This will again make them one of the largest companies in the country. His family comprises of his twin sister Prerna, his two sons Ranjeet and Sameer and their wives Shruti and Anju respectively. Ranjeet has two daughters Sanjana and Namrata and Sameer has a son namely Pawan. All the members are after his money.

But problem starts when LK dies. The family is distraught and horrified. Not because a loved one has died but because now no one will buy their shares. So, on the advice of their family guru-Vidyut Baba, the family decides to hide the death of LK for a period of two days till the shares are all sold out. Comedy starts from here and you witness a crazy series of events.

The members are trying heart and soul to hide the death of LK, which seems to be a Herculean task. To make matters worse, every time they're ready to announce LK's death, fate intervenes forcing them to keep his death hidden for another couple of days.

You can also see an inquisitive and greedy servant, the Prime Minister's fixer, a procurer of dead bodies, the paparazzi and a couple of cops. Buddha Mar Gaya takes you on a rip-roaring ride into a world littered with greed, corruption and dead bodies.
