Awara Pagal Deewana was released in the year 2002 and is a comedy film. The film is a remake of an American film, The Whole Nine Yards. The director of Awara Pagal Deewana was Vikram Bhatt and it was produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala. This action comedy film was written by Mangesh Kulkarni and Anand Vardhan. Like most Bollywood films, this movie too has the usual song and dance sequences and the music in this film has been composed by Anu Malik and Franco Vaz. Awara Pagal Deewana was released under the banner of T-Series. It has been edited by Amit Saxena and the cinematography was by Pravin Bhatt.

The star cast of Awara Pagal Deewana comprises of Aftab Shivdasani, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Rahul Dev, Amrita Arora, Aarti Chhabria and Preeti Jhangiani. The plot of Awara Pagal Deewana revolves around mistaken identities created by the rivalries between the character of Akshay Kumar and Rahul Dev. In this film, Akshay Kumar is Guru Gulab Khatri, Suniel Shetty is Yeda Anna, Aftab Shivdasani is Anmol, Rahul Dev is Vikrant.

Guru and Vikrant are brother in laws who cannot stand one another. Yeda Anna is employed by Vikrant to eliminate Guru, Anmol is a doctor who gets involved in the course of events unknowingly.

Anmol`s wife is Amrita Arora who is a complete nag and makes his life a living hell. Aarti Chabbria plays the role of Tina who has an obsession with dons and Preeti Jhangiani is Preeti who is the wife of Guru. The story of Awara Pagal Deewana starts when Om Puri who is a don dies and leaves behind a huge collection of diamonds that was to be divided among his son Vikrant and son in law Guru. Vikrant does not want to share the wealth with Guru and in order to remove him, impersonates Guru and commits a murder. Guru then runs away to the United States to save himself from prosecution. Vikrant gets the clue that Guru is in US and therefore sends Yeda Anna to kill him.



In this seriousness, Awara Pagal Deewana has many comic elements and characters which gives rise to mistaken identity. There are witty one liners all through the film that is very humorous. Moreover the character of Yeda is shown to stammer and has difficulties in remembering names. This leads to many comical situations in the film. Moreover Paresh Rawal adds to the comic relief during the climax. There are great fight sequences in Awara Pagal Deewana. The end of this film is like most Hindi films with a happy ending.
