This film is about a man named Sunil Mehta who does not come home for a night. The plot of Aaj ki Taaza Khabar revolves around the events that follow after his wife refuses to believe his whereabouts.

The star cast of Aaj ki Taaza Khabar is Kiran Kumar as Sunil Mehta, Radha Saluja as Geeta Mehta, G. Asrani as Amit Desai and Champak Boomia, Padma Khanna as Motiyah Boomia, Paintal as Champak Boomia, I. S. Johar as Ramji, Narendra Nath as Capt. Ranjeet Goel, Arpana Chowdhary, Helen and Manju Asrani. Sunil Mehta fails to return home after being stuck on the giant wheel due to a power cut.

With him was an attractive looking young woman. On returning, Geeta questions her husband about his whereabouts. On being told the real events, she refuses to believe him. The verbal battle ensues which makes Sunil resort to lying.

Aaj ki Taaza Khabar takes a different turn when Sunil says that he had spent the night with Champak Boomia. He invents a fictitious friend and on constant interrogating from his wife, he asks his friend Amit to come and visit the house as Champak Boomia. In order to help him out, Amit agrees to visit his house and meet Geeta. However things take a different turn when a real Champak Boomia turns up at the house of Sunil and Geeta. The chaos created by the presence of the real Champak Boomia is hilarious to say the least.

In the end, the confusions are cleared and Geeta too realizes that it is her fault to an extant that lead to the course of events in Aaj ki Taaza Khabar. The role of Sunil Mehta by Kiran Kumar is very convincing as a hen pecked husband who fails to make his wife see sense to his explanations. Radha Saluja too acts very much like a woman who thinks that her husband is of no good. The film was shot in Famous Cine Studios in Tardeo.
