Zulmi is one of the popular Bollywood action movies. The director of Zulmi was Sandesh Kholi while Tanveer Khan was the screenplay writer as well as the dialogue writer of this film. Zulmi got released in India on 16th April in the year 1999.
Zulmi that did evidently well at the box office, stars Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna in the roles of Raj and Komal Dutt respectively. Some of the other actors and actresses that are starred in this film are Aruna Irani, Dara Sing, Milind Gunaji, Dalip Tahil, Deep Dhillon, Rakhee Malhotra, Amrish Puri, Gulshan Bawara, Arun Bakshi, Ghanashyam Rohera, Narendra Bedi, Vishal Khanna and Johnny Country.
The suspense and mysteries in the story of Zulmi are the main attractions. Baba, the godfather of the underworld becomes a victim of the conspirators. According to his last wishes, Balraj takes the charge of protecting Nihal, then a child. Balraj has a little daughter who gradually grows up. Her name is Komal.
Years later, one day Balraj finds a chap fighting a group of criminals who tried to molest as well as rob a helpless woman of her belongings. He hires that chap in the name of Raj for the protection of his daughter. In initial stages, Komal did not like Raj and tried every means to get him sacked. Ultimately, they both fall in love with each other.
The crisis of this Bollywood action movie lies in the fact that Raj has sworn to avenge the molestation and murder of his sister. It was Nihal who was the criminal. The crisis reaches the climax when some other old enemies of Balraj get released from the jail. Ultimately events roll on to a happy end with Raj succeeding to achieve what he aimed for.
The song sequences of Zulmi turned out to be very popular among t he audience. Akshay Kumar once again proved his acting mettle. He has very artistically and realistically projected the inner conflict of Raj when he comes to know that Nihal who was the molester as well as the murderer of his sister, is always protected by Balraj, with whose daughter he is having an affair. Amrish Puri is once again simply extraordinary while playing the role of Balraj. Not totally out and out a villain, Balraj successfully manages to gather the sympathy of the audience, which is demanded of his character in the film.
