Released in 1978, Muqaddar ka Sikandar is regarded as a milestone in the history of Bollywood. Noted for its directorial genius and slick music, Muqaddar ka Sikandar portrays a love triangle, with Amitabh Bachhan playing the role of a rejected lover. Use of brilliant locales and emotional dialogues made Muqaddar ka Sikandar a favorite among the young crowd.

The star cast of Muqaddar ka Sikandar consists of Rakhi, Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachhan and Rekha. Rakhi however, is in love with Vinod Khanna and both of them decide to tie the knot. Amitabh is a frequent visitor to Rekha's private dance ceremonies. Rekha here plays the role of a public woman who is deeply in love with Amitabh. Prakash Mehra, the director of Muqaddar ka Sikandar opted for a brilliant star cast and an interesting plot. A brilliant performance on the part of Amitabh Bachhan remains the strongest point of the movie.

Technical aspects of Muqaddar ka Sikandar

Use of camera and costume is commendable in Muqaddar ka Sikandar. Most of the shots have been taken after mixing a variety of shots. The editor of Muqaddar ka Sikandar took pains to mix the scenes in proper order. The cinematography in Muqaddar ka Sikandar deserves a special mention. Long distance shots like the one where Sikander rides on his motorbike continues to be one of the landmark scenes from Bollywood.

Most of the dance sequences in Muqaddar ka Sikandar have been done outdoors. In the song "Dil to hai dil" Sikander imagines to traverse along snowcapped mountains with Kaamna. Rolling meadows at Kashmir were chosen for shooting the scene. Action sequences in Muqaddar ka Sikandar also deserve a special mention.

Muqaddar ka Sikandar left a huge impact on young India. Its numbers became popular and both Amitabh and Vinod Khanna gained popularity.
