Mr and Mrs Khiladi, directed by David Dhawan, was released in the year 1997. Though this widely popular Bollywood movie is regarded as a comedy film, it is also very often regarded as one of the best Bollywood action movies. There are, of course, reasons for calling it a comedy movie, considering the comic sequences that take place in Mr and Mrs Khiladi.

The movie, Mr and Mrs Khiladi, stars Bollywood actors like like Akshay Kumar, Juhi Chawla, Kadar Khan, Paresh Rawal, Himani Shivpuri and Satish Kaushik. Some parts of the film were set in Canada.

The story of Mr and Mrs Khiladi is quite simple and lovely. Apart from the action scenes, it may be regaeded as a purely romantic comedy film. Raja is the protagonist of the film. The role of Raja has been played by Akshay Kumar while Juhi Chawla plays the role of Shalu. Raja`s uncle is an astrologer who predicts that Raja is sure to become a rich man one day.



Raja starts day dreaming without doing anything. One day he meets Shalu, the daughter of a millionaire. Kadar Khan plays the role of the millionaire father of Shalu. He has a resolution that he will marry his daughter off with such a person who has the capacity to fend for himself, and to look after the huge property that he owns. Raja is a misfit for this requirement. Shalu`s father says that he will have no objection to their marriage if Raja could earn rupees one lakh. Then follows a series of consequences where Raja keeps on trying hard to get the money.

Mr and Mrs Khiladi is very important if the acting quality of Akshay Kumar has to be judged. He had been, before this movie, known as a romantic hero or action hero. But, it is in this film that Akshay unfolds his talents as an efficient actor who is spontaneous, innovative as well as efficient in the comic roles.

If the title song of Mr and Mrs Khiladi, `Akela hain Mr. Khiladi` is noticed well, it will be evident that the song sequence has been shot in Ontario in Canada. Some parts have also been shot at the Niagra Falls. But the majority that is almost 75%, of the song was shot at Square One mall in Misissauga. The library and the other buildings are also seen in the song sequence. Another song of Mr and Mrs Khiladi was shot inside the BCE Place in Toronto.
