Among the Bollywood action movies, Khiladiyon ka Khiladi is a very distinct and distinguished name. Released on 14th June in the year of 1996, Khiladiyon ka Khiladi was directed by Umesh Mehra. Besides being a big Bollywood hit, this movie is known for another reason. It is for the first time that a popular actor like Rekha performed in a negative role. This film that starred Bollywwod celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon and Gulshan Grover and also Brian Lee, the WWE wrestler, did well at the box office for a long period of time.

The story of Khiladiyon ka Khiladi is quite interesting. The protagonist of this film is Akshay Malhotra, played by Akshay Kumar. He sets out for the United States to join his elder brother who has already formed an orchestra. On the way, Akshay meets Priya, played by Raveena Tandon, and they both fall in love.

On reaching his destination, Akshay finds that the police are searching for his elder brother. His search for his brother brings in contact with Maya, a female criminal don.

It is revealed later on that Maya has held Akshay`s brother. Another interesting fact is that, Maya is the sister of Priya. Maya tells Akshay that she would release his brother if hand over to her the incriminating documents that were very important for her. After a series of consequences, Akshay manages to free his brother.

One of the factors that served an important purpose in Khiladiyon ka Khiladi, is the presentation of the WWE wrestling. The popularity of this game has been effectively utilized in the movie. The presence of this game in an attractive mode, especially the involvement of Akshay Kumar in this internationally popular game added to the reasons of the film getting more and more popular.

The action scenes of Khiladiyon ka Khiladi have been widely praised. The performance of Akshay Kumar made it clear how he kept on improving himself. This film brought awards to Rekha as well as to Akbar Bakshi. Rekha won Filmfare Best Supproting Actress Award and Star Screen Award Best Villain while Akbar Bakshi won the Filmfare Best Action Award. There are seven songs in this movie. The most popular among them is `Tu Kaun Hai Tera Naam Kya` by Kumar Sanu and Sadhana Sargam.
