Directed by Rakesh Roshan, Karan Arjun is listed among the most popular Bollywood action movies. Karan Arjun is famous for another reason. It features two dashing Khans-the charismatic Salman Khan and the charming Shahrukh Khan. Co-written by Ravi Kapoor, Anwar Khan and Sachin Bhowmick Karan Arjun has all the essential ingredients which make it one of the greatest action flicks in Bollywood.

The story starts with two brothers Arjun Singh aka Shahrukh Khan and Karan Singh or Salman Khan. These two young boys and their mother, Rakhee stay happily until the boys are called by their rich grandfather who decides to divide his property between the grandchildren. Durjan Singh aka Amrish Puri plans otherwise kills the young men with the help of his accomplices. Rakhee their mother who believes that her sons will come back to her goes and prays to goddess Kali.



Her prayers are answered and the boys are born in two different families under different names and in different cities. Durga or Rakhee who firmly believes that her sons will return to her is almost in a trance as she feels Goddess Kali cannot refuse to listen to her earnest prayers. The story moves forward where Ajay or Karan is a championfighter who earns the money for his father's treatment. He strikes a deal with a businessman Saxena played by Ranjit who promises to pay the necessary money only if he promises to fight for him in return. Although Salman Khan cannot save his father he is still engaged by Saxena as his personal bodyguard.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan or Vijay grows up to be a skilled horseman. Tended by his uncle after the death of his parents, Shahrukh Khan is befriended by the beautiful Sonia who comes to his uncle's stable to learn horseriding. She is the daughter of Saxena and is also engaged with Durjan Singh's son. Things go out of hand when Sonia falls in love with the dashing Vijay. As her parents come to know about the forbidden alliance Sonia is forced to get engaged with Suraj, who happens to Durjan Singh's son.

Vijay creates a ruckus in the engagement party and Saxena calls Ajay or Salman Khan to ward off this unwanted trouble. Although the duo has been raised separately they experience frequent flashbacks, the reason of which remains unexplained till now. As the brothers prepare to fight each other, lightning strikes and the brothers fail to kill each other. This divine intervention stops the bloodshed and Ajay is imprisoned. Later the two brothers come to the village and through a series of flashbacks the brothers are reunited with their mother who has been waiting all this while for the return of her sons. This Film Kraft venture is considered as one of the most popular movies of the 90s. This film has every ingredient that goes to make it a great Bollywood blockbuster.
