The Bollywood action movie, Kaante is a famous and close adaptation of Quentin Tarantino`s Reservoir Dogs. Kaante has also got very close similarities to Bryan Singer`s "The Usual Suspects". Condemned to compulsive stay in a cell together, they complain about their second class citizen status pulled in as suspects every time. Planning to take revenge for this, the six mutual strangers plan to rob the American Services Bank since most of the bank`s clients are members of the city police.

However the whole plot turns almost foil with the group finding themselves surrounded by the police. Though they manage to escape with their stolen possessions but they come to know that they have an informer within them. This awareness seeps like a canker within the psychology of the group leading to mutual suspicion and internal squabbles. The film represents the internal dissension that is paramount within every individual. The informer is not willing to come forward to confess his crime, as is quite natural.

Thus the story of Kaante is especially significant from the aspect of trying to assess the fundamental human negative attributes like jealousy and suspicion prompted by betrayal. It can also be seen as a rediscovery of the self which has a hidden thorn in the flesh.
