The name of Farhan Akhtar's film is "Don, The Chase Begins Again". Interestingly enough, the scriptwriter of both these films is Javed Akhtar. He had joined his friend Salim to write the script of Don, directed by Chandra Barot. Again in the year 2006 he wrote the script of the film "Don, The Chase Begins Again", that was directed Farhan Akhtar.

The second similarity is the song 'Yeh Mera Dil' which is used in both the films.

Even the stories of both the films are similar with the latest film being more technically advanced. There is also a twist in the tale of the remake, which makes it slightly different from the original one. Shahrukh Khan does an excellent job by playing the double role like Amitabh Bachchan in the 1978 film.

In the film "Don, The Chase Begins Again", Shahrukh Khan plays the role of a don and manages the drug business whose kingpin is Singhania, the character played by actor Rajesh Khattar. The main operation center of the business is in Malaysia and the Indian police is desperate to catch hold of the Don. Simultaneously, there is another character, also played by Shahrukh Khan. This character is of a common man Vijay, a street singer, who is a look alike of Don.



In the meantime, the 'Don' Shahrukh Khan kills his gang member Ramesh who had planned to leave the gang. Ramesh's fiancée Kamini plans to get 'Don' arrested. This role is played by Kareena Kapoor who looks ravishing in the song "Yeh Mera Dil". However, Kamini fails to get Don arrested and instead gets killed. However, Don fails to avoid his arrest for a long time. The ACP of Mumbai police DeSilva and his team captures him but he is badly injured. Don dies and DeSilva convinces Vijay to impersonate Don and mix with his gang so that the whole gang can be nabbed.

Meanwhile, Roma, the sister of Ramesh, decides to take revenge on Don. The role is played to the perfection by Priyanka Chopra. However, when Roma tries to kill Don, she comes to know that he is Vijay. Romance blossoms between them and Vijay successfully traps the acquaintances of Don. Meanwhile he learns that DeSilva is actually the person who wants to control the drug trade by killing Singhania and also Vijay. Vijay successfully exposes Desilva in front of the senior police officers and escapes from Malaysia.

Then comes the real twist in the tale in which 'Don, The Chase Begins Again' scores over the old film. It is shown that the actual Don did not die rather it was Vijay, who was killed.
