It is a crime story starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jayapradha. The film was shot in different parts of Rajasthan. Other stars who acted in the movie are Raadhika, Amrish Puri, Suresh Oberoi, Kiran Kumar, G. Asrani, Praveen Kumar, Ram Kumar, Anupam Kher, Baby Guddu, Mehmood Junior and a few others.

The story shows Thakur Bhupendra Singh and his son Lakhan as the landlords. While Thakur Bhupendra Singh is played by Amrish Puri, his son's role is enacted by Prasenjeet. They are seen to be very cruel landlords who preside ruthlessly over the villagers. Lakhan is portrayed as a man with all bad qualities. He plays with the emotion of a village girl called Raadhika and makes her pregnant. This is considered as a great sin and Raadhika has to face humiliation. Meanwhile Lakhan leaves the girl.



Raadhika's brother Bheema goes to the landlord so that they accept Raadhika as their daughter- in- law. After his plead is ignored, he hatches a plan and decides to take revenge.

After a few days Bheema's sister is killed which makes Bheema more restless. He is sent to prison and after serving his period of sentence he returns to his village. But the villagers being threatened by the Thakur do not let him to stay in the village. At this point of time he receives the assistance of some village men and a police officer. They persuade him to return to the village.

After Bheema returns to the village his nephew is kidnapped by the men of Thakur. The Thakur promises to return his nephew only after Bheema obtains thumb prints from the villagers of the community. It is a deed making the Thakur the undisputed property holder of the village. The story takes an interesting turn from this point of time.

Aj ka Arjun is one of the blockbusters of Amitabh Bachchan who plays the role Bheema. In this film, he was portrayed as an angry young man. Amrish Puri also showed his acting skills in this film. Though the songs of the movie were not very popular the storyline of film made it a super hit.
